N-Tox®

 

Water Innovate have won a prize at the recent IChemE Water Awards (sponsored by the IChemE Water Subject Group) with their N-Tox® nitrification failure monitor. Over 400 process industry professionals and their guests gathered in London last month to celebrate innovation and excellence at the 2006 Awards. The popular science broadcaster Adam Hart-Davies was on hand at London's Banqueting House to announce winners across 12 categories from a short list that included 45 entries.

 

N-Tox® was also awarded a prize at the Shell Springboard Awards earlier this year. N-Tox® Project Manager, Dr Mark Butler, said “We are delighted to have won both these awards. We now have a pilot plant operational and work is advancing on developing a diagnostic tool to work alongside the N-Tox® monitor.”

ODOURsim®

 

Water Innovate have been retained to undertake air-dispersion modelling of Middle East pumping stations for a major client. They have successfully modelled the emissions from the odour control units and found that the proposed designs met the client's odour threshold requirement at the nearest receptor.


ODOURsim® has been presented at various events which were well attended with much interest and discussion on odour modelling topics. Events included a case study presentation for SWIG in Bretby on the 28 September, a presentation on the practical uses of odour formation and dispersion models at the Aqua Enviro Odour Workshop on 11 October, and an exhibition at a NESTA event in Islington on 24 October.

 

Water Innovate have developed new sewer and pumping station models for ODOURsim®. Their models incorporate the ASM1 model with nitrogen fractions, allowing the simulation of nitrate dosing for septicity control in sewerage networks. Dr Pascal Harper, ODOURsim® Project Manager said “This is a major step forward in the ability to link septicity formation and emission in the network to emissions from wastewater treatment works.”
